Cognitive Dysfunction in the Older Dog

A look at “Older Dog Syndrome”

Cognitive dysfunction is analogous to Alzheimer`s disease and is common in older dogs with changes in the aging canine brain and behavior.
Most cases are identified after the age of 11.

Signs of disease include disorientation, lack of responsiveness, uneasiness with visitors, changes in sleep-wake cycles and house soiling.

Treatment with proper medication, omega 3 DHA and antioxidants associated with stimuntal & physical activities can slow the
progress of the disease and improve the quality of the life of the pet and family.
